Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 11%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the automotive industry in Q1 2024, with new job postings drop by 23% quarter-on-quarter. Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations came in second with a share of 9% in Q1 2024, with new job postings dropping by 21% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Management Occupations with a 9% share in Q1 2024, Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in automotive industry accounted for 36% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2024 were Tesla, Valeo, Safelite Group, Robert Bosch, and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Together they accounted for a combined share of 36% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the automotive industry.
Tesla posted 2,109 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q1 2024, Valeo 1,408 jobs, Safelite Group 768 jobs, Robert Bosch 460 jobs, and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group 333 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 55.15% share of total new job postings, Q1 2024
The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the automotive industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 55.15% followed by India (8.15%) and Germany (5.68%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points higher than the 51.63% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
