GAC GA4: this potential rival for China’s VW Magotan will be on sale there in February and might also be sold in the USA from 2020
Honda Insight prototype: larger than previous model so finally a rival for the Prius, will be built in USA at Greensburg plant, looks like a Civic sedan with an Accord front, on sale later in 2018 for the 2019 model year
Hyundai Veloster (2019): unlike almost all rivals, Hyundai believes there is still a worthwhile amount of potential sales volume in this segment; comes as the 147hp 2.0-litre Veloster, 201hp 2.0-litre turbo Veloster Turbo and 275hp 2.0-litre turbo Veloster N; build starts at Ulsan in March
Infiniti Q Inspiration concept: powered by Nissan’s VC-Turbo variable compression ratio petrol engine, possible preview of a future Q70 or Q80
Jeep Cherokee facelift (2019): a mild update but the 270hp 2.0-litre turbo is new to this model, production moves from Ohio to Illinois
Kia Forte sedan (2019): to be again known as the K3 or Cerato in some countries, will be twinned with the replacement for the cee’d series which becomes the Ceed
Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept: created by the CALTY design studio in Southern California, a “flagship crossover” which may be a preview of a future model above the RX and below the LX so sized and priced against the Audi Q8
Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4MATIC+ (2019): CLS53 4MATIC+ in USA, powered by the new M 256 2,999cc in-line six-cylinder petrol engine and a 16kW motor, CLS 63 will be added to the AMG CLS range later in 2018
Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Coupé & E 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet (2019): E53 Coupe 4MATIC+ & E53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet in the USA, powered by the same 429hp petrol engine as the CLS53/CLS 53 plus 21hp motor
Mercedes-Benz G-Class (2019): second generation model will again be manufactured in Austria by Magna Steyr, W464 is a new model but made to look like the old one, North America’s sole variant will be the G550 while the rest of the world will have the G 500 powered by the same 310kW (422hp) and 610Nm 4.0-litre biturbo V8, plus an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine will be offered in multiple non-NAFTA countries, diesel engine(s) and a PHEV should follow along with Mercedes-AMG variants
Mini three-door, five-door and convertible facelifts (2018): mild update mostly concerns exterior lights, plus a new 1.5 with more torque for the Mini One and a seven-speed DSG also new across the range
Nissan Xmotion concept: 4+2 seater layout, sized between the Rogue Sport and Rogue so replacements for one of these two might take some styling cues from it
Ram 1500 (2019): new steel frame, production due to commence later in January at Sterling Heights, outgoing model remains in production at Warren Truck and Saltillo
Toyota Avalon (2019): 370B project code, GA-K architecture, production will start at Georgetown 1 in February, was developed at the TTC in Michigan
Toyota Avalon Hybrid (2019): replacing the slow-selling model of the same name has surprised many, features an updated four-cylinder+ two motors powertrain, gearbox remains a CVT
Volkswagen Jetta (2019): seventh generation model is bigger, will be built at Puebla, Sagitar for China follows later in 2018
