Indonesian vehicle distributor Indomobil Group said it had signed an agreement to distribute electric vehicles (EVs) supplied by China’s GAC Aion New Energy Automobile (GAC Aion) locally.
GAC Aion, established in 2017 as the main EV subsidiary of Chinese state owned automaker GAC Group, is the latest Chinese vehicle manufacturer to enter Indonesia, following Chery, BYD, Wuling, Hozon’s Neta, SAIC Motor and Seres.
Jusak Kertowidjojo, Indomil president director, said at a press conference in Jakarta: “In line with Indomobil Group’s commitment and corporate activism in carbon emissions reduction, we are proud to introduce GAC Aion.”
GAC Aion managing director Gu Hui Nan said the company planbed to introduce four new models over the next year, starting with the Y Plus and Hyper HT.
The company planned to launch Indonesian sales at this year’s Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in June.
