Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has said it has secured over 70,000 orders for its SU7 vehicles.
The news was announced by President Lu Weibing via Chinese social media platform Weibo, and CEO Lei Jun via X, during the firm’s investor conference this week.
Mr Weibing said: “At present, the order lock momentum continues to be very strong. Thank you to users for their trust.”
Mr Jun said: “To meet surging demands, we’re ramping up production and aiming to deliver over 100,000 units this year.”
It was reported that due to demand, potential buyers faced wait times of four to seven months.
The launch of the SU7 has prompted tech security concerns among some social media users, according to GlobalData’s social media analytics platform.
